Experience a Different Kind of Midtown Walking Tour

This isn’t your average hotel lobby stroll. Step inside the grand halls of Midtown NYC’s most storied hotels, where the marble is polished but the history is messy. From Marilyn Monroe’s affairs to presidential stays to celebrity scandals that tabloids couldn’t invent, these five-star institutions have seen it all.

Along the way, you’ll uncover secrets behind some of the biggest Midtown NYC attractions: the bar where the Bloody Mary was invented, the room where the Ghostbusters reboot shut down a landmark, and the penthouses that doubled as playgrounds for Hollywood royalty. Forget dusty facts—this is history with gossip, glamour, and just enough grit to make it stick.

Pro Tips

  • This tour covers many blocks worth of walking. If you stroll more slowly, please mention ahead of time.
  • Restroom access is available along the route as we pass through participating hotels and establishments. The closest subway stations include 5th Avenue–53rd Street on the E line, 7th Avenue for the B, D, and E lines, and 47–50th Streets Rockefeller Center for the B, F, M, and D.
  • Presidents, playwrights, profiteers, and other talented troublemakers have all left their marks at our markers. A stop on this walk even takes you past the liquor store where Tennessee Williams bought his final bottle, run by Amy Schumer’s uncle. These hotels are filled with good, bad, and downright ugly history.
